Tanja's Garten

Natürlich sind dies Fotos aus unserem Garten, der von Tanja mit viel Liebe und Leidenschaft gepflegt wird. Der Aufwand über das ganze Jahr ist beachtlich, aber auch eine Freude, ihn anzuschauen!

Beim Verlassen des Hauses wünschen sie dir eine schöne "Volta" (griechisch Spaziergang) und beim Betreten ein herzliches "Willkommen".

Tanya's garden

Of course, these are photos from our garden, which Tanja tends with love and passion. The effort throughout the year is considerable, but also a pleasure to look at!

They wish you a nice "Volta" (Greek walk) when leaving the house and a warm "Welcome" when entering.

Meerzwiebel / Sea onion

Diese Pflanze wächst nicht in Tanjas Garten. Ich habe sie aber trotzdem dieser Abteilung beigefügt, weil das ganze Tal voll von ihnen ist. Zudem ist irgendwie das ganze Tal unser Garten.

This plant does not grow in Tanja's garden. But I've included them in this section anyway because the whole valley is full of them. In addition, somehow the entire valley is our garden.

Sex auf dem Balkon… / Sex on the balcony...

Sex auf dem Balkon.....

...nein nein, das sind nicht wir sondern.... eine Gottesanbeterin bei der Fortpflanzung!!! Die ganze Sache ist etwas schräg, denn man kann nachlesen, dass das Weibchen das Männchen nach der Paarung einfach auffrisst, es sei denn er kann sich aus dem Staub machen. In unserem Fall hat sich das Männchen einfach fallenlassen und ist so nicht zum Futter geworden!!! Die Photos von der Gottesanbeterin alleine, sind nach der Paarung entstanden. Die Bilder sind trotz windiger Umstände recht "scharf" geworden.

Sex on the balcony.....

...no no, that's not us but.... a praying mantis reproducing!!! The whole thing is a bit weird, because one reads that the female simply eats the male after mating unless he can get away. In our case, the male just dropped and didn't become food!!! The photos of the praying mantis alone were taken after mating. Despite the windy conditions, the pictures are quite "sharp".

Nachtjasmin / Night jasmine

Νυχτολούλουδα (griechisch: Nachtblume) / (Greek: Night flower)

Der Nachtjasmin stammt aus der Karibik und Zentralamerika. Am Tag unscheinbar und duftlos ändert sich das am Abend und in der Nacht komplett. Die kleinen sehr schönen Blüten verströmen einen betörenden Honigduft.

The night jasmine comes from the Caribbean and Central America. Inconspicuous and odorless during the day, this changes completely in the evening and at night. The small, very beautiful flowers exude an intoxicating honey scent.

Plumeria

Die Plumeria kennt man normalerweis mit weissgelben Blüten. Als Tanja aber einmal ein Exeplar mit roter Blüte gesehen hatte, wollte sie unbedingt so eine haben. Nach längerem Suchen fanden wir dann endlich eine in einer Gärtnerei bei Heraklion

The Plumeria is usually known to have white-yellow flowers. But when Tanja once saw a specimen with a red flower, she absolutely wanted to have one. After a long search we finally found one in a nursery near Heraklion

Zimmerpflanzen / Indoor plants

Die Temperaturen hier auf Kreta sind so hoch, dass man die Pflanzen das ganze Jahr draussen lassen kann. Zwei Ausnahmen gibt es aber bei uns, die Orchidee und die Medinilla (Medinilla magnifica) beide kommen im Herbst in den Wohnraum. Zum einen wegen der Kälte, aber natürlich auch wegen den starken Herbststürme. Hier nun einige Bilder der beiden Schönheiten.

The temperatures here on Crete are so high that you can leave the plants outside all year round. But there are two exceptions here, the orchid and the Medinilla (Medinilla magnifica), both of which come into the living room in autumn.
